Event Outline

Celebrating the end of the sportive season the 2008 Exmoor Beast start and finish has moved to the magnificent site at Wimbaball Lake, the spacious grounds offer on site camping with shower and toilet facilities. The grand depart, will set the mood for what the organisers promise will be an unforgettable weekend. There is a large parking area on site and Wimbleball Lake is an ideal location for family and friends to enjoy the excitment of the start and the exhilaration of the competitors after they have done battle with the Beast.

Cafe on site by the start and finish area serving hot and cold food and a selection of energy products.

Programm of Events

All entrants will recieve a copy of the detailed instructions prior to the event.

There will be a staggered start on Sunday morning in waves of approximately 100 with a gap of 10 minuets between each group, departure times will be allocated once all entries have been recieved.

Timing System

You will be sent a high-tech timing chip which you strap to your ankle and your race number which is to be placed in front of your handlebars (cable ties will be provided).

Registration will be a quick check system on the day and presentation of photographic ID for confirmation.

Registraion will be open on Saturday1 November from 1400hrs until 1800hrs and on Sunday 2 November from 0600hrs, situated at Wimbaball Lake by the cafe.

The outline of timings are as follows:

0600hrs Registration tent is open

0700hrs First rider across the Start Line

1100hrs Feeding station one first cut off point for the 100 mile route

1330hrs Feeding station two final cut off point for the 100 mile route

1330hrs First riders expected in

The 'Cut Off Points' are for the safety of the riders to enusre they are able to get back as safely as possible.

A vehicle will be following the last riders and can pick up anyone who is unable to complete the course. If your speed has slowed dramatically, an assessment will be made of your progress and if you are still some way from the finish, you will be asked to take advantage of the transport as we have to ensure there are no riders on the course after it gets dark.

Note: All riders must wear the correct Cycling Helmets in accordance with ANSI Z90.4, SNELL B90, EN1078 or equivalent and you are not to wear any head phones of any discription.

Every step of the way you’ll be fully supported. Mechanics and medics will be on hand, marshals will be there to help and there’ll be snacks and refreshments to keep you going. Somerset are fully supportive of cycling having had The Tour of Wessex and The Tour of Britain in the area just 3 months prior so expect some support on the road.

Medical

Medical cover will be in attendance throughout the event. Ambulances and First Aid Cover will be provided by The British Red Cross but please fulfil your own responsibilities by:

• Informing the registration staff of any know medical conditions that may be relevant to your treatment in the event of an accident

• Completing the medical information and contact details template on the reverse of your race numbers
