Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question that isn’t covered, just email us on info@exmoorbeast.org and we’ll do our best to help.

How many riders can take part?
In year two, we have decided to restrict participation to 2,000, which will position the Exmoor Beast in the top echelon of U.K. sportives. The outline plan for next year includes the possibility of closed roads and an increase in the number of participants to 2500.

What kind of shape do I need to be in to meet the challenge?
We welcome all levels of ability and encourage you to set your own target for the ride. When you arrive at the start, you should have already done enough preparation to allow you to complete the ride without being distressed. As a general guide you should already be comfortable with covering 80% of the distance of the Exmoor route. It is also vitally important to understand that Exmoor’s terrain is very demanding for cyclists, particularly if the weather provides additional demands, so be prepared and bring both sun cream and waterproofs with you. The Exmoor Beast is not a race so remember to always ride at the pace you are comfortable with and enjoy the experience.

What if I have a problem while I’m with you?
Our philosophy is that people come first, so if you run into problems you are never far away from one of our four safety wagons patrolling the route during the event.

What kind of accommodation can I expect?
All the local B&B’S have been informed of the event and a list of accommodation will be sent out with your welcome pack.

What are the food stations like?
We will ensure that if it’s wet and cold, the food stations will reflect the needs to that weather and of course vice versa if it’s hot. There will be entertainment and a bistro at the start finish area for the spectators.

How far in advance do I need to book?
Team slots and individual places are limited and we expect to be over-subscribed, so, to avoid disappointment, we are encouraging participants to book as early as possible.

How do I sign up?
Signing up is easy! Sign up on-line on our entry page. You can book your place with a full payment of just £27, Alternatively, you can mail your entry fee, together with your details, to us at MIG Events, Bank House, 9 Rolle Street, Exmouth, Devon, EX8 2QA
