Griffin was just 6 years old when he was diagnosed with Leukaemia. It left his parents and whole family in a state of shock and their whole lives were turned upside down. Amongst all this chaos a group of people were there to support the family on their journey – These people were the CLIC Sargent staff – CLIC Sargent Nurses, CLIC Sargent Social Workers and CLIC Sargent House Managers at the homes from home. These CLIC Sargent staff were there to help. They knew what the Howard family were going through and offered them everything from financial support to a shoulder to cry on.

The home from home provided a free, well equipped place to stay as well as a free taxi to get the family to and from the hospital. Being around the supportive staff and other families made all the difference. CLIC Sargent were there to take away so much of the stress and worry and help with deal with forms, appointments, schooling, and so many other things so the family could focus on Griffin and his treatment.

After treatment – helping survivors, supporting those bereaved, research
